What In The World Is “A First Look”?

If you’re not a bride-to-be or a wedding industry insider, you probably have no clue. So for the folks out there that may be new to this whole wedding world, the first look is that moment where you and your future husband-to-be finally get to see each other all dolled up and looking ridiculously happy to take this next step together. It’s emotional. It’s epic. And it’s amazing. As your photographer, it makes our hearts happy to be part of it.

So the question is, do you take a moment privately (with your photographer), or do you go the more traditional route, and do the big reveal when you walk down the aisle?

I’m going to be blunt. We’re more than a little biased on this topic. As photographers, and past brides (all except for me) here is our advice: Take a moment, alone, to really appreciate this time. Let it really sink in. Trust us, your hubby-to-be is still going to have his breath taken away when you walk down the aisle. Seriously, let yourself feel beautiful.

On the more practical side, by taking these photos first, you actually get to mingle with your guests and enjoy this fabulous event that you’ve been planning for the last year. So many brides tell us, that during all the hustle and bustle of their day, they really didn’t get to enjoy the moment. Don’t be that bride!!!

Remember–It’s your day. Relax. Breathe. And enjoy.
